Angina might be feeling like pressure or compression in chest. Some cases pain also take place in arms, jaws, shoulders, neck, or back. It can feel like heartburn. In other words, Angina pectoris is the medical name for chest pain or uneasiness because of “Coronary heart disease”. Angina is a warning sign of a condition called myocardial ischemia. It happens when the heart muscle known, as “myocardium” doesn't get required amount of blood as it needs. This condition mainly occurs because one or more coronary blood vessels (heart's arteries), that provide blood to the heart, get narrowed or jammed. Deficient blood supply is known as ischemia. Angina also can happen with people with heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or continuous high blood pressure. Usually Angina Pectoris is painful pressure, fullness, compression or ache in the middle of the chest. Lots of chest problems aren't connected to angina. Acid reflux or heartburn and lung infection or swellings are examples. Types of Angina Pectoris There are three different types of angina and they have different symptoms and need different treatment. Stable AnginaMost common type is Stable angina. It takes place when the heart is functioning harder than usual. It follows a specific pattern. The pain generally goes in a few minutes, if you rest or take angina medicine. Stable angina is not heart attack, but it makes possibility of heart attack in future.Unstable AnginaUnstable angina does not follow any specific pattern. It can happen with or without physical effort and isn't calmed by rest or any medicine. Unstable angina is extremely risky and requires emergency treatment. It is a warring sign that heart attack could happen soon.Variant (Prinzmetal's) AnginaVariant angina is of rare type. It normally occurs when you are at rest. The pain can be extreme and severe. It normally occurs in between midnight and early morning. This type of angina is controlled by medication.
