<<HOME <<Disease HOMEBoilsA boil is a red, inflamed, sore lump below the skin. It is a skin disorder caused due to inflammation of hair follicles, and therefore resulting in the collection of pus and dead tissues in the restricted area. Individual boils can group together and shape an organized network of boils called as carbuncles. Boils may occur in anywhere on the body, but they are most frequently developed on the, armpit, buttocks, face, neck and thighs. Boils or carbuncles are mainly caused because of bacteria known as Staphylococcus Aureus that are usually found on the skin shell. The source of bacteria may be your own family member or your pet. These Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria develop pockets in the skin that are packed with pus, and dead skin cells and also with infection-fighting white blood cells. These pockets of pus are called a boil or a carbuncle depends on its place and size. A boil is also known as furuncle, starts as a sore infection of a particular hair follicle. Some Boils can also grow larger than a golf ball, and this type of Boils mainly occur on the face, neck, buttocks, armpits and groin.
