Bone Spur

A Bone spur (also known as osteophyte) is a development of another bone on normal bone. Usually people think “Spur” is something sharp development on bone but a Bone spur is just an extra bone. Normally Bone Spur is smooth, but it can cause wear and tear and if it pressed or rubbed on other bones or soft tissues like tendons, ligaments, or nerves in the body then it also causes pain. Commonly Bone Spur developed on knees, spine, shoulders, hips, hands, and feet. In general Bone Spur tends to occur over a long period of time as we age.

Bones spurs are mainly responsible for restrictions in joint motion and sometime it can also cause sever pain. The main cause of bone spur development is that body is trying to enhance the surface area of the joint for better distribution of weight across joints that have been injured or weak because of arthritis or other diseases. Sadly, this is fully wasted effort by body as the bone spur can turn out to be painful and restrictive.

Bone spur them self is not problematic, but they are an indication of an underlying troubles that frequently needs to be addressed. Bone spurs are frequently recognized as help to measure the severity of a situation such as arthritis.
