<<HOME <<Disease HOMEBone SpurBronchitis is a type of respiratory disorder. In Bronchitis the mucous membrane in the lungs' bronchial channels becomes inflamed or swollen. As the membranes swell up and develop thicker, it narrows or locked the tiny airways in the lungs, resulting in coughing spell along with breathlessness and bulky phlegm. There are two stages or forms of Bronchitis:
Acute bronchitisIn general acute Bronchitis lasts only in few days. It is mainly caused because of viral infection and may starts after cold or sore throat. It generally produces no long-term, dangerous effects.Chronic bronchitisChronic Bronchitis is detected when a person has heavy phlegm in the airways, which results constant, productive cough. A person is considered to have chronic bronchitis if cough and sputum are there continuously for at least three months and for minimum two successive years, or for six months in one year. Chronic bronchitis is generally ignored until it is in a higher state, because people wrongly believe that the disease is not severe. Only timely medical awareness will reduce the possibility of damage of the lungs. At present there is no cure for chronic bronchitis. Basically most of the treatments are focused on making the symptoms less severe and trying to avoid further damage of lungs.
