Burns



Burns are wounds caused by heat that damages your skin and in severe cases also damage body internally. Some cases it even causes death. Minor burns damage only the upper most layers of skin. The inner layers are unharmed; in that case your skin can cure itself. Minor burns are further divided into types:

First-degree burns (like mild sunburns)

These types of burns only affect the very top layer of skin, known as epidermis. It causes local swelling or irritation of the skin. Sunburns are frequently considered as first degree burns. Pain, redness, and also mild amount of swelling characterize the First-degree burns. The skin may be very tender to touch.

Second-degree burns

This type of burn extends into the second layer of skin, known as dermis. These types of burns are deeper and with pain, redness, swelling and soreness, there is also roasting of the skin. This type of Burn generally cause because of boiling water from pots, very hot drinks, pans or kettles of freshly prepared tea or coffee, Hot plates, hot rings, oven doors, Steam from steamers or kettles, Hot baths, Hot irons, Hot faucets.

Third degree burn

Final stage of burning is Third degree burn. Third degree burns are deeper, concerning all layers of skin, in result killing that part of skin. Because of damage of the blood vessels and nerves, third degree burns looks white and leathery and tends to be quite painless.

Burns are not still in nature and they may mature. After few hours a first-degree burn may engage deeper structures and converted into second degree. Think of sunburn that swell up in next day. Likewise, second-degree burns may develop as third degree burns. Normally in all kind of burn, swelling and fluid gathering in and around the wound take place. Also, it should be well known that the skin is the body's first protection against contamination by microorganisms. A burn also rupture the skin, so that the risk of infection increases both at the place of the damage and parallel throughout the body.
