Causes and Sysmptoms of Amenorrhea



There are many probable causes of Amenorrhea, some basic causes are:

Birth deficiency, anatomical defect, or other medical circumstance
If a young woman of age 16 or more has not started to menstruation cycle, a birth deficiency, anatomical defect, or other medical circumstance may be supposed or assumed.

Eating disorder

Females with anorexia and/or bulimia often experience amenorrhea as an effect of retaining a body power or weight that would be too low to maintain a pregnancy. So for the protection of the body, the reproductive system "shuts down" as is very thin, weak or malnourished.

Over-exercise or strenuous exercise

Lots of young female athletes during training experience the absence of menstrual cycles. This is due to low fat content in body.

Thyroid disorder

In many cases, an under active thyroid gland or an overactive thyroid gland is also dependable for the absent menstrual cycles.

Obesity

Lots of females who are overweight also experience amenorrhea as an effect of excess fat cells interfering with the process of ovulation. Some common symptoms of amenorrhea includes absent periods, deeper voice, decreased pubic and armpit hair, increased facial hair, decreased breast size, and discharge from the breast.

Other important symptoms are:
  1. Absent menstrual periods or reduced flow of menstrual periods
  2. Menstruating not started by the age of 16
  3. If period has suddenly stopped
  4. More bleeding than usual or excessively bleeding
  5. Bleeding between periods
  6. Unbearable pain during periods
