Causes and Sysmptoms of Burns

Burns tend to be caused by many environmental reasons:

  1. Burn caused because of ultraviolet rays, which are emitted from the sun, are called as "Sunburn".
  2. Maximum numbers of burns are known "flame burns" because they are caused by fire. Direct contact with flame or fire can cause direct damage to the skin and tissue.
  3. Burn caused by currents of electricity is called as “Electrical burns”. These type of burns are generally very deep and they may cause severe injures on skin and its underlying tissue.
  4. A burn on the skin caused due to hot liquid/fluid is called a "scald". In this type of cause, damage depends on thickness and time of contact of liquid, simply thicker the liquid and the longer it is in contacted with the skin, worst the scald.
  5. Burn on the skin caused because of hot material is known as "contact burn". In such cases, the burn is generally restricted to the specific area of skin that touched by the hot material. Examples are burns from irons, cigarettes, or cooking devices.
  6. Burn cause by contact with flammable gases or liquids known as “chemical burns”. These types of burns are normally very severe.
